How it All Started

Like most things in the history of Scarlet in Chains, Bloodsmiths creation was a fated meeting between weird souls who spot each others weirdness and amplify it into something magick.

Being a vampire obsessed goth girl of the 90’s, I read about blood jewellery in a book on the underground vampire culture of america. I may or may not have tried to create my own in my teens using a glitter vial necklace. As anyone whose ever tried this will tell you is what you get eventually is a snow globe of scabs and dried blood flakes with stray glitter.

So during that fateful summer of 2024, we met our first vampire Ms Cee Cee Thwax who created the original vials you saw on our instagram and who found the name the Bloodsmiths.

This instagram post attracted our second vampire, Vampiress Flo Bottomy.

Scores of you contacted us who also had always wanted your own blood vial necklace also spurred on by the fabulous and very excited pair who run Birmingham’s incredible ‘The Goths Playground’ who wanted us to bring blood jewellery to their epic event.

Over the summer and into the Autumn of 2024, in between regularly scheduled chaos. The vampires and ourselves untangled the red tape and logistics of such a service and how could we make it an incredible experience, this included talking to the Human Tissue Authorities, insurance companies etc.

This grew into Bloodsmiths a blood jewellery experience with two highly skilled vampires in residence currently who will be joining us at selected Scarlet in chains stalls and events to make your jewellery even more personal with yours or your beloveds blood as the central feature.
